Booking flightsWhen travelling, we use general travel sites to gauge flight prices and make comparisons:
Kayak US / AU Google Flights (prices in USD) DON'T FORGET
Visitor guides/ forumsWhether it's your first time at a destination or not, it doesn't hurt to look at a visitor's guide for ideas and tips on what to do and where to go. The one below has been provided by Hawai'i Tourism, but there are books published by Lonely Planet and other similar book companies for Hawai'i as a collective group, along with books on Oahu itself.
Travel forums like TripAdvisor are always good for reviews on activities and accommodation. Yelp is also a popular forum in the USA where reviews are left on businesses such as restaurants, hair salons etc. |
Loyalty PointsHave you collected frequent flyer points? Are you part of any loyalty program or motor club (NRMA, AA). See if you can redeem your points or use them to obtain a discount for flights, or accommodation. Some hotels will give discounts for their car park to AA members.
UBERTo UBER or not to UBER? That is the question. It's not for everyone, but we love it and have used it in different states in the US. Only recommended if you can navigate with Google Maps, feel comfortable sitting in a privately owned car and generally like paying cheap 'cab' fares (for uber X - otherwise pretend you have a town car and pay the premium with uber Black).
